Flip-it

For the School of Fashion Industry, I designed a school catalog with a reversible format – a so-called flip magazine – where the catalog has two covers and separate sections aimed at different target groups, in this case fashion and interior design. The reader turns the magazine to access a new section with its own content and expression.

SoFI

School of Fashion Industry is a renowned vocational school in Oslo that offers education in fashion, interior design, design, sewing and fashion communication. The school has close contact with the industry and places great emphasis on practical experience, creative development and relevant skills for work in the fashion, interior design and textile industries.

One catalogue, two sides — fashion meets education in print.

Execution

During the process, I set up an outline that provided an overview of all the pages I would design for the catalog. The editor-in-chief was responsible for finding images and writing text, as well as proofreading the content for the pages.

I was responsible for the layout and visual structure in line with the school’s existing profile. My focus was on clear typography, good information flow, and a modern expression that reflects the school’s creative identity.

Not every catalog needs to look like an Excel sheet. This one was given structure, rhythm, and personality, just enough order to make the design work, and enough freedom to make it feel alive.
